"Live to Transform" Surrealism Self Portrait Series
“Live to Transform Series” is a narrative story that is running in the mind, the other life; my surreal life that is visualized using daily images and symbols. It tells the relationship of the reality; the fact and my interpretation of it, through cognition and affection, conscious and unconscious. It is a mediation of dynamic, fast, busy, and colourful life events, and a retrospection that gives wisdom. The visual idea is experimental combination of surrealism, pop art style by using industrial brands and the daily objects, and imperfect shapes and freely flying objects inspired by doodling. It has involved designing, spontaneous, and also taking benefit from incident events it the painting process. Each painting represents a one year life story of my six years immigration living in Canada. The story has been incubated in my mind for more than six years that just need to flow it out beautifully.
